Have you ever wanted to take the Napa wine tour in Napa County, California? This geographical region on the west coast of the U.S. is famous for its Napa grapes and wines. The soil, geography, and Mediterranean climate favor the growth of wine grapes, and many famous wineries have flourished in the area. California is a popular vacation spot, but the Napa Valley attracts wine lovers from around the world. A Napa wine tasting tour is the hottest ticket in town.

The list of Napa wineries ranges from Abiouness Wines and Acacia Winery, to Young Ridge Estate and ZD Wines. Napa Valley currently features more than 200 wineries. Its vineyards produce grapes for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Merlot, among others. Napa wine tasting tours allow visitors to travel between vineyards to see the winemaking process and sample the native wines.

Napa valley tours are arranged in two categories: unguided and guided. You are on your own for the unguided tours. Guided tours require renting a chauffeured vehicle to ferry you between Napa wineries. If you are the adventurous type, the unguided tour might suit your style. Be warned, however, that traffic can occupy much of your Napa tour time. You can try to find more isolated wineries to visit, but that also decreases the length of your tour.

The guided Napa tour typically requires renting a private vehicle such as a six passenger limousine. The hourly rates are quite reasonable for tours up to six hours long. Larger tour buses are available to carry up to 16 passengers. After several wine tastings, you won't want to drive, and even walking may seem a chore. It is your vacation, so give in and take a guided Napa tour. You'll enjoy yourself much more and won't have tired feet at the end of the day.

There are other costs associated with your Napa wine touring journey. The wine tastings are not free. Each winery charges at least $10 per tasting. You will have to buy lunch, because the wineries only supply crackers or bits of bread. Lunch on guided tours can cost $30 or more, which seems costly until you get monstrously hungry after several tastings. There are groceries and diners along the way, but these become crowded especially if you have a large group.

Don't try to be cheap when planning your Napa wine tasting tour. A guided tour with a chauffeured vehicle gets you quickly to each winery. Arrange for lunch during the tour. You'll finish your Napa wine tour with feet that aren't sore, a full stomach, and a lifetime of memories.
